We are traveling from South America to Miami with our dog. From Miami we will continue on to LA. How long does one recommend we allow in Miami to clear customs, give our dog a potty break and recheck in because we are also switching airlines. Our first flight is 4 hours and our second is about the same.

My friends and I (four of us in total) are considering to go to South America at the end of the year. Where are the best and safest places to go? We know we want to begin the trip in Peru (we’ll spend 1 week there) but we don’t know what to do after that…The Peru part will be mostly trekking, so we’d prefer to go somewhere really fun for the next three weeks. (Somewhere where we can learn to tango and get drunk and meet hot men). Also, where are the safest places? We are all 19/20 year old females so I guess you could say we’re ‘easy prey’ for predators. We would spend 2-3 weeks at the locations. South Africa would involve visits to Capetown, Victoria Falls, game reserves, and Johannesburg. Or if we choose South America, we would spend it in Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia and then a week or so on a cruise to Antartica and tracking Shackleton’s journey.

My wife and I are experience travelers and young/active. We tend to stay in more upscale facilities but have no problem getting off the beaten track to see something spectacular. (Last year we spent two weeks on a riverboat in Cambodia seeing the rural countryside. It is highly recommended!)

People with experience in both locations would be particularly appreciated.
